Clipping Products

Auto-Detected Fields

What the extension scrapes automatically and what you might need to fill in.

What gets scraped automatically

When you open the extension on a product page, Focalist reads the page and tries to extract as much as it can. Here's what it looks for:

01

Item name

Pulled from the page title or main product heading. Usually accurate — occasionally it grabs extra text like "Free Shipping" at the end. Just delete the noise.
02

Price & currency

Detected from the page's price elements. Supports USD, EUR, GBP, PLN, SEK, NOK, DKK, CHF, CAD, AUD, and JPY. If the price isn't found, type it in manually.
03

Brand

Extracted from the page metadata when available. Some stores don't expose this cleanly — if it's blank, just type it in.
04

Product image

The extension grabs the main product image from the page. This shows as a preview at the top of the clip form and gets saved with the item.
05

Supplier

Automatically set from the website's hostname — so clipping from wayfair.com gives you "Wayfair", from ikea.com you get "IKEA". You can change it if needed.

Fields you fill in yourself

These aren't auto-detected but can be useful depending on your workflow:

06

Quantity, unit & wastage

Set the quantity (default: 1), pick a unit (Pieces, m², ft², m, ft), and optionally add a wastage percentage for materials like tiles or fabric.
07

VAT

Add the VAT percentage if you need to track tax separately for client invoicing.
You don't have to fill in every field while clipping. The goal is to save the product fast — you can always edit the details later from the dashboard.
